GED Program Information
Our General Educational Development program serves adults ages 18 and older (and 16-17 year olds eligible for an age waiver*) who test at the ninth grade level or above and wish to take the GED exams rather than pursue an adult high school credit diploma.
- Students may enroll at regular intervals during the school year.
- The curriculum is designed to assist program completers in mastering the skills and knowledge necessary for passing the GED exam.
- Students receive individualized instruction.
- Computer-assisted instruction is an integral part of the curriculum.
- All teachers hold valid teaching certificates and are highly qualified.
- Classes are offered both days and evenings at our main campus site as well as other conveniently located sites throughout our service area.
Entrance Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must have withdrawn from a regular K-12 program
- Must obtain appropriate TABE scores (9.0 or higher on D or A level TABE)
- Should have reliable transportation
16-17 year old WAIVER Program
This special program is available to qualifying 16 and 17-year-old students on our main campus and our Bartow site during daytime class hours. Students must attend day classes and abide by Polk County School Board Code of Conduct. After meeting all of the course requirements and passing the program exit exams, 16 and 17 year-old students will be issued an age waiver which will allow them to take the GED exams before turning 18 years of age.
