I. Orientation and Student Intake

  1. Attend an Orientation Session:

    Orientation sessions will be  held on Mondays,
    starting promptly at 1:30 PM.

    If a Monday is a school holiday, orientation will be held
    on Tuesday of that week at 1:30 PM.

    Evening sessions will be held on Thursdays, starting promptly at 5:45 PM

  2. A parent or legal guardian must attend orientation with students who are under 18 years of age.
  3. Complete intake paperwork

II. Placement Test

  1. Take the placement test called TABE at West Area Adult School ($15.00 cash fee.)
  2. Bring your picture ID and Social Security Card. (What if I don't have one?)

III. Residency Review

  1. Attend residency review
    • It is strongly recommended that a parent attend the residency review with any dependent student under 24 years of age since residency will be determined primarily by a parent's information.

IV. Pay Tuition

  • Pay tuition fee based on residency
    • $45.00 per half-year (July 1 - December 31 or January 1 - June 30)
      for in-state residency.
    • $180.00 per half-year for out-of-state residency.
    • We can accept cash.  No bill larger than a $20.00. Please bring the exact amount. We can not make change.
    • We can accept a money order made payable to West Area Adult School. No personal checks.
  • Please call the school at 863-499-2835 if you need additional information.

    ATTENTION!

    Students that have paid fees before 1:00 PM Wednesday and will be attending classes during the day, may pick up schedules on the following Monday.  (Tuesday, if Monday is a school holiday.) If you will be attending day classes on the main campus, schedules should be picked up between 7:40 AM and 7:55 AM in the Guidance Testing Room.

    DAY CLASSES are from 8:00 AM until 1:30 PM
    --MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY.

    NIGHT CLASSES are from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM
    --TUESDAYS and THURSDAY.

    Residency Appeal Policy- Please call the school at 863-499-2835 and ask to schedule a meeting with the Residency Appeal committee.

    Refund Policy- Refund must be requested before the second day the class is scheduled to meet.

    West Area Adult School --Dress Code Policy

    Students may not be on campus unless they are sufficiently clothed. This means no bare midriffs, tank tops, low-cut tops, spaghetti straps, or other skimpy clothing. Pants shall be worn so that the underclothing is not visible. Shorts and/or skirts must be no shorter than mid-thigh as determined by the administrator or her designee. Unacceptable attire: Overalls or any bibbed pants or shorts, and clothing, jewelry, buttons, haircuts, or other attire or markings which are offensive, suggestive, indecent, or gang-related. Hats and/or head coverings of any type, including bandanas and headbands, are not to be worn in the classroom, testing room, or offices.
